Three months before the Women’s World Cup in France 2019, which they won, US players filed a class action gender discrimination lawsuit against their football federation. Produced by HBO, LFG (an acronym for Let`s fucking go) is a documentary that follows this story by focusing on the players who led the cause: Megan Rapinoe, Jessica McDonald, Becky Sauerbrunn, Kelley O`Hara, Christen Press, Sam Mewis and former player Julie Foudy. An intimate and moving portrait of a series of women who meet the demands of elite sportswomen while showing their courage, unwavering spirit and resilience in an effort to create lasting social change for women’s rights.
Aired at the opening of Thinking, Letters and Football 2021, we bring this documentary back after the US Soccer Federation agreed in May of this year to the female players’ demands for equal pay.
