Cameroon went into the 1990 World Cup in Italy as the ideal victims. However, in the opening match they defeated the world champions, none other than Diego Maradona’s Argentina in what was probably the biggest upset in World Cup history up until that point. That was just the first step in an adventure that will forever be etched in the minds of fans around the world.
Led by Soviet coach Valery Nepomnyashchiy, players such as Thomas N’kono, the Omam-Biyick and Kana-Biyick brothers, Stephen Tataw, Thomas Libih and veteran forward Roger Milla earned the respect and admiration of the football world in one of the most beautiful feats in the history of the World Cup. Produced by DAZN, the documenary “Green Lions” is the behind-the-scenes story of that unforgettable team.
