Copa 71
19 November / 20:00
In August 1971, the women’s national teams of England, Argentina, Mexico, France, Den-mark, and Italy played in Mexico City in a football tournament that marked a turning point: lavish sponsorships, extensive television coverage, merchandising on every corner, and more than 100,000 fans in the historic Azteca Stadium. But despite being one of the most groundbreaking moments in football history, this World Cup was largely overlooked in historical accounts.
Directed by Rachel Ramsay and James Erskine, and produced by the Williams sisters and Alex Morgan, this documentary relives the tournament with dazzling archival footage and interviews with the players who took part.
