Freedom Fields

Filmed over five years, this documentary follows the story of three women and their football team in Libya after the revolution, as the country plunges into civil war and the utopian hopes of the Arab Spring begin to fade. They are friends, come from different political and social backgrounds and live in an environment of war, social restrictions and corruption. Through the eyes of these accidental activists, we are presented with a country in transition, where personal love stories and aspirations clash with history. This is a film about hope, struggle and sacrifice in a land where dreams seem a luxury. A love letter to the sisterhood of women and the power of team spirit. A tribute to a young generation of women trying to build the future they want, even if to do so they have to cut the grass of what will be their training ground with their own hands.
